Color

Claire Yaffa was first introduced to the work of Sol Lewitt by Howard Greenberg, of the Howard Greenberg Gallery in New York City, who represents her photography. Although she had used color film for her work at the New York Times, it was published in black and white. After seeing Sol Lewitt’s photographs, she was inspired and began photographing in color with her digital camera. “I find I am drawn to the same feelings and subjects, however, the images have a different quality than my stark black and white portraits. They are a little more poetic and lyrical. I continue to photograph with my Leica using film and enjoy the immediacy of capturing the moment in color,” says Yaffa.
